SEO training for business owners

SEO training for business owners and their staff

Practical training for owners or staff who want to handle basic SEO in-house.

What this is

A good deal of search work is not specialist. Writing a service page properly, choosing a title, keeping the site current, knowing which numbers mean something. Those are learnable and they are most of the value.

This is for the business that would rather build the skill than rent it indefinitely.

What you get

What you learn

  • 01

    How search actually decides

Relevance, credibility and, for local, proximity. Enough of the mechanism that the advice that follows makes sense rather than being a list of rules to memorise.

  • 02

    Writing a service page

The single most useful skill. One page, one subject, the answer near the top, and real detail from the business. Most of what agencies are paid for is this done adequately.

  • 03

    Titles and headings

How to write them for a search and a human at once, and why the page name plus the business name is a wasted opportunity.

  • 04

    Reading your own data

The three reports in Search Console worth checking and what a change in them means. Also what normal fluctuation looks like, so you stop reacting to it.

  • 05

    What not to bother with

Keyword density, submitting your site to search engines, most of what appears when you search for SEO tips. Knowing what to ignore saves more time than any technique.

  • 06

    When to call someone

The problems that genuinely need a specialist, so you can tell the difference rather than either struggling or over-hiring.

What it costs

Quoted after a free consult, because what it takes depends entirely on what you already have. Book a call, I will tell you what is involved, and you get a number before anything starts. Website plan details are on the pricing page.

Quoted as a one-off, scoped by who is being trained and how much they already know.

How this differs

SEO consulting answers your specific question about your specific situation. Training teaches a repeatable skill so the next question does not need me. The deliverable is competence rather than a recommendation.

If you want the work done rather than learned, that is search engine optimization.

This does not turn anyone into a specialist, and it is not meant to. It covers the eighty per cent that most small businesses never do, which is where nearly all the available gain sits.

Questions

What people ask

Do I need technical knowledge?

No. If you can edit a page on your own website, that is enough. The parts that need a developer are identified as such so you know where the boundary is.

How much can I realistically do myself afterwards?

Writing and maintaining your own pages, keeping your profile current, and reading your own numbers. That is most of what matters for a small business. Technical problems and competitive markets still warrant help.

Is this worth it if I already pay an agency?

Often, yes. It makes you a better client: you will know what to ask for and whether the answers make sense.

What if I learn it and decide I hate it?

That is a legitimate outcome and worth finding out cheaply. Plenty of owners conclude they would rather pay someone, and knowing why is better than assuming.
