Bing Places listing setup
Bing Places listing setup for small businesses
Claiming and verifying your listing on Bing Places.
What this is
Bing is a small share of search and it is not nothing, and the reason to care has changed. Bing is the default on Windows devices, and it feeds local results into several AI assistants including Microsoft Copilot.
That makes a Bing listing cheap insurance rather than an afterthought, particularly if you sell to anyone working from a company laptop.
What you get
What setup involves
-
01
Claiming the listing
Bing often already holds a record of your business assembled from other sources. Claiming the existing one is better than creating a duplicate beside it.
-
02
Importing from Google where possible
Bing Places can pull details straight from a verified Google Business Profile, which saves most of the work and keeps the two consistent.
-
03
Categories, services and hours
Completed properly rather than left at whatever the automatic import guessed.
-
04
Photographs
The same real images as your Google profile, so a customer finding you either way sees the same business.
-
05
Verification
Usually by phone, email or post. Less demanding than Google's video verification.
What it costs
Quoted after a free consult, because what it takes depends entirely on what you already have. Book a call, I will tell you what is involved, and you get a number before anything starts. Website plan details are on the pricing page.
A small one-time job. Often bundled with Apple Maps setup, since they are the same kind of work.
How this differs
One platform each. The reason to care about Bing is Windows default search and the AI assistants drawing local results from it. Apple Maps matters for an entirely different reason: iPhone share and Siri.
Neither replaces your Google Business Profile, which is where the overwhelming majority of local search still happens.
Be realistic about the scale. For most local trades this brings a small amount of additional visibility. It is worth an hour of setup and it is not worth a monthly fee.
Questions
What people ask
Is it worth it if nobody uses Bing?
People use it more than they realise, because it is the default in Windows and Edge without anyone choosing it. The stronger argument now is that it feeds AI assistants, which is a growing route to local businesses.
Can I just copy my Google profile?
Largely, yes. Bing Places imports from a verified Google Business Profile, which is the fastest route and keeps your details consistent across both.
How long does verification take?
Usually days rather than weeks, and it is generally less involved than Google's process.
Does this need maintaining?
Barely. Update it when your details change. Anyone charging monthly to maintain a Bing listing is charging for very little.
