Website Maintenance
Website maintenance for small businesses
Ongoing upkeep that keeps your site working the way it did the day it launched, for small businesses.
What this is
Websites decay quietly. Hours go stale, a form stops delivering, images pile up until pages crawl, and nobody notices until a customer mentions it. Maintenance is the arrangement where that is somebody's job rather than nobody's.
On a 940Digital build this is not a separate product you bolt on. It is already in every plan, which is why there is no hosting page on this site and no separate IT bill in your inbox.
What you get
What upkeep covers
-
01
Content changes
New hours, a new service, a price change, photos from a job you just finished. You send it, it goes up. There is no ticket queue and no change-request form.
-
02
Hosting
Included, managed, and not something you need to think about or hold a login for. It is a feature of the plan rather than a service you buy.
-
03
Keeping pages fast
Images get compressed and sized before they go up, so the site does not slowly gain weight over a year of additions. Heavier remedial work is website speed optimization.
-
04
Catching breakage
Forms that stop delivering, links that rot when another business changes their URL, a page that renders wrong after a browser update. The failures that cost you leads are usually silent ones.
-
05
Reporting
What the site did, in plain numbers rather than a dashboard you never open. Setting up the measurement itself is website analytics setup.
What it costs
Included in every plan. There is no separate charge for it and no add-on to opt into. See the pricing page for what each tier covers.
How this differs
Maintenance is the recurring relationship that keeps a healthy site healthy. Website speed optimization is a one-time engagement for a site that is already slow, and it usually means undoing something that happened before I was involved.
It is also not a redesign. If your site needs rethinking rather than maintaining, that is a website redesign, and no amount of upkeep substitutes for it.
If you have a site somebody else built and you only want it kept alive, say so on the consult. That is a different conversation from a plan, and I would rather tell you honestly whether it is worth either of us doing.
Questions
What people ask
How much can I ask for in a month?
There is no ticket allowance. In practice a small business needs a handful of changes a year and a burst around a busy season. If a request turns out to be a new project rather than an update, I will say so before doing it rather than after.
Do I have to be on a plan?
Maintenance is part of every plan rather than something sold separately. If you have a site I did not build, bring it to a consult and we will work out whether taking it on makes sense.
What if I want to make changes myself?
Then you probably want a different arrangement, and possibly consulting rather than a plan. Tell me on the call; I would rather set it up the way you actually intend to work.
Does this include SEO?
No. Upkeep protects what the site already does. Competing for searches is ongoing work of a different kind, covered under search engine optimization.
