On-page SEO
On-page SEO, one page at a time
Tuning each page so search engines can tell what it is about and which town it serves.
What this is
On-page SEO is the per-page editorial work: the title, the headings, the content, and the links between pages. One page, one purpose, one search it is trying to win.
It works with content you already have. Nothing new gets written here, which is what separates it from the writing services.
What you get
What gets tuned
-
01
Title tags
The line that appears in search results, written for the query the page is targeting and for a human deciding whether to click. Most small business sites have titles that are the page name and the business name and nothing else.
-
02
Meta descriptions
Not a ranking factor, and it is the sentence that decides whether someone clicks you or the result above you. Worth writing properly for that reason alone.
-
03
Heading structure
One clear H1 per page saying what it is about, and subheadings that make the page scannable rather than decorative.
-
04
The content itself
Whether the page actually covers what someone searching that term needs, and whether the terms your customers use appear anywhere on it.
-
05
Internal links
Pages linking to each other with anchor text that describes the destination. This is how Google works out which of your pages is the important one on a subject.
-
06
Cannibalisation
Finding pages competing for the same search and deciding which one wins. Two pages chasing one term usually means neither ranks.
What it costs
This is included in the Starter plan, alongside everything in the tiers below it. Setup is $800 one-time setup fee and the plan runs $80/month. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
Work on a site that is not on a plan is quoted after a look at how many pages genuinely need attention, which is usually fewer than the total.
How this differs
On-page SEO reworks the content you already have. SEO content writing produces content that did not exist. If a page is missing entirely, retitling something else will not fill the gap.
Technical SEO is site-wide and mechanical. This is page by page and editorial.
Questions
What people ask
Do you work through every page?
No, and paying for that would be waste. Most sites have a handful of pages that can realistically bring in work. Those get the attention and the rest get left alone.
How long before this shows up in rankings?
Google has to recrawl the page first, which can take days to weeks. Movement after that depends entirely on what you are competing against. Nobody can honestly give you a date.
Is keyword density a thing?
No. Writing to hit a percentage produces pages that read badly and has not worked for many years. What matters is that the page genuinely covers the subject in the words your customers actually use.
Can I do this myself?
Much of it, yes, and if you want to that is what SEO training for business owners is for. The judgement about which pages to bother with is the part worth paying for.
