SEO content writing for service and location pages

Service and location page content that is specific, accurate and built to rank.

What this is

These are the money pages. A service page has to convince someone who is actively looking for that service, and it has to do it while being findable for the search that brought them.

The two goals only conflict when the writing is bad. Pages stuffed for search read badly to people and increasingly do not work on search engines either.

What you get

What goes into a page

  • 01

    One page, one search

Each page targets a single search with a single intent behind it. Two pages chasing the same term means neither wins, and it is the most common self-inflicted problem on sites that grew over time.

  • 02

    Real detail from your business

What is included, what is not, what it depends on, what goes wrong. Specifics are simultaneously what convinces a reader and what makes a page rank, which is convenient.

  • 03

    An answer near the top

What this is and who it is for, stated before any persuasion. Most visitors are checking they are in the right place before they read anything.

  • 04

The questions that stop people buying

Cost, timescale, what you need from them, what happens if it goes wrong. A page that ducks these sends people back to search.

  • 05

    Proper structure

Titles, headings and internal links that tell a search engine what the page is about. Covered in isolation under on-page SEO.

What makes these pages fail

Almost always the same thing: the page could be about any business in that trade. If you could swap the company name and nothing would read as wrong, there is no reason for a customer to choose you and no reason for a search engine to prefer your page over the hundred others saying the same.

Avoiding that is not a writing trick. It takes real information from you, which is why these pages start with a conversation rather than a brief.

What it costs

Quoted after a free consult, because what it takes depends entirely on what you already have. Book a call, I will tell you what is involved, and you get a number before anything starts. Website plan details are on the pricing page.

Priced per page. How many pages you need comes out of the consult, and it is usually fewer than the number of services you offer.

How this differs

This is money-page content: service and location pages that must rank and convert. Blog writing is informational content for people who are not ready yet.

Website copywriting is conversion copy for your core pages, written primarily for the reader. This is written for a target search as well, which changes the constraints.

Service area page design is the specific case of town pages, which come with a limit I hold to.

Questions

What people ask

How long should a service page be?

As long as it takes to answer the question honestly. A narrow service might need four hundred words and a complicated one fifteen hundred. Padding to hit a length is visible to readers and pointless for rankings.

Do I need a page for every service?

A page for every service you genuinely want more of. A page for something you barely do and would rather not sell is a page you will have to keep honest for no return.

How do you get the detail out of me?

By asking the questions a customer would and writing down the answers you give without thinking. Most owners have the material and have never been asked to say it out loud.

Can you write about a trade you do not know?

With your input, yes; that is what the conversation is for. Without it, nobody can, and pages written without it are exactly the generic ones that fail.

Write the pages that actually sell

Tell me what is going on and I will tell you whether this is what you actually need. No pitch deck and no pressure.
