Service area page design

Service area pages built on real local detail

A page for each town you genuinely serve, built on real local detail.

What this is

If you work in eight towns and your site only mentions the one you are based in, you are invisible to most of the people looking for you. A service area page fixes that by giving each town a page with something real on it.

The word doing the work in that sentence is "real". This service comes with a limit attached, and the limit is the point.

What you get

What goes on a town page

  • 01

Work you have actually done there

Jobs, photographs, and specifics. This is the part that cannot be copied to the next town, and it is the part that makes the page worth having.

  • 02

What is different about working there

Older housing stock, particular soil, HOA rules, drive time, a permitting quirk. Every trade knows these things about their patch and almost nobody puts them on a website.

  • 03

The services you actually offer there

Which is not always everything you offer. If you will not drive that far for small jobs, the page should say so.

  • 04

    Local proof

Reviews from customers in that town, named where they allow it.

  • 05

    Its own structure

A proper title, heading and internal links, so the page can rank rather than sitting there as filler. Page-level work is covered under on-page SEO.

The limit, stated plainly

I build a town page only for a town you genuinely serve, and only where there is real detail to put on it. That means I will usually build fewer pages than you ask for.

The reason is not fussiness. Pages generated by swapping a town name into a template are what Google calls doorway pages, and the policy on them is explicit and enforced. They also read exactly as what they are to any human who opens two of them. A business that has forty of them has forty pages of liability rather than forty pages of coverage.

If you want to be found in a town you do not work in yet, the honest route is to go and work there first.

What it costs

Quoted after a free consult, because what it takes depends entirely on what you already have. Book a call, I will tell you what is involved, and you get a number before anything starts. Website plan details are on the pricing page.

Priced per page, and the number of pages gets decided together after working out which towns you genuinely serve and what real detail exists for each.

How this differs

SEO content writing is the broader writing service across service and location pages. This is one page type and one specific discipline about not crossing a line.

It is also not a landing page. A landing page receives traffic you are sending it. A town page exists to be found on its own.

Questions

What people ask

Can I have a page for every town in my region?

No. I build pages for towns you actually work in, with detail specific to each. Beyond that the pages stop helping and start carrying risk, and I would be taking your money to build something that could hurt you.

What if I serve a town but have no photos from it yet?

Then we either wait for a job, or the page leans on what is genuinely true: your service area, your drive time, what you do there. It can still be a real page. What it cannot be is a copy of another one.

How many pages is normal?

Fewer than most people expect, and it depends entirely on where you really work. Somewhere between a handful and a dozen covers most local trades honestly.

Will these rank straight away?

No. A new page takes time to be crawled and to earn position, and a town where established competitors are strong takes longer. Anyone promising a timeline on this is guessing.
