Website copywriting
Website copy that sounds like you and sells
Website copy that explains what you do, who you help, and why someone should pick you, written for small businesses.
What this is
Most small business websites are written by the owner late at night, and it shows in a specific way: they describe the business accurately and never say why anyone should care. Accuracy is not the same as persuasion.
The job is to take what you actually know about your work and your customers and put it in the order a stranger needs it.
What you get
What gets written
-
01
The pages that decide it
Home, services, about and contact. Most of the persuasion happens on a handful of pages, and it is worth getting those right before writing anything else.
-
02
Copy in your voice
Based on how you actually describe the work when a customer asks, rather than the way trades are written about generally. The specifics you take for granted are usually the most convincing part.
-
03
Objections answered
The things people worry about before hiring you, addressed on the page rather than left to the phone call that never happens.
-
04
Calls to action that fit
What you want someone to do, phrased for where they are. "Get a free estimate" and "Buy now" are not interchangeable.
-
05
Headings that mean something
Scannable, specific, and readable in the ten seconds most people give a page before deciding.
What I need from you
Copy cannot be conjured out of nothing. What makes it good is detail only you have: why customers actually call, what you get asked constantly, what goes wrong on jobs, what you refuse to do and why, and which customers are the good ones.
That is normally a conversation rather than homework. The pages that read as generic are the ones written without it, and they are generic because there was nothing specific available to write.
What it costs
Quoted after a free consult, because what it takes depends entirely on what you already have. Book a call, I will tell you what is involved, and you get a number before anything starts. Website plan details are on the pricing page.
On a new build the copy is part of the project. Rewriting an existing site is quoted on its own, based on how many pages actually need it rather than how many exist.
How this differs
This is conversion copy for your core pages, written for the person reading. SEO content writing produces service and location pages built around a target search, which is a different brief with different constraints.
Blog writing answers questions people have before they are ready to hire. This closes the ones who already are.
Questions
What people ask
Do you write everything or edit what I send?
Either works. Some owners write plenty and need it sharpened; others would rather talk for an hour and never touch a document. Say which you are on the consult.
How do you capture how I talk?
By listening to how you describe the work, and keeping the phrases you use rather than replacing them with industry language. If the finished page does not sound like you, it is wrong and it gets changed.
Will it be written for Google or for people?
People first. Copy written primarily at search engines reads badly to humans and increasingly does not work on search engines either. Page-level search targeting is on-page SEO and it works with the copy rather than against it.
Where does AI sit in this?
It is a tool, and it is a bad substitute for knowing the business. Nothing goes on your site that has not been through a conversation with you first, because the specifics that make copy work are not available to a machine that has never spoken to you.
Say what you actually do
Tell me what is going on and I will tell you whether this is what you actually need. No pitch deck and no pressure.
